  • This information alerts you to potential hazards that could hurt you or others.
  • It is not practical or possible to warn you about all the hazards associated with operating or maintaining your Honda water pump. You must use your own good judgement.
  • Your safety is your responsibility. A little time spent in preparation will significantly reduce your risk of injury.
  • Read and understand your owner's manual.
  • Know what the controls do and how to operate them.
  • Familiarize yourself with your lawn mower and its operation before you begin using it.
  • Know how to quickly shut off your Honda water pump in case of emergency.

Keep Your Water Pump In Safe Operating Condition

add
  • Always perform a pre-operation water pump check before each use.
  • Repair any damage and correct any malfunction before operation to prevent accident or equipment damage.
  • Read and understand your Owner's Manual before operating the water pump. Failure to do so could result in personal injury or equipment damage.
  • Never pump seawater, chemical solutions or caustic liquids such as used oil, wine or milk to avoid pump corrosion or damage. The Honda WMP20 pump is a chemical pump with a list of 72 products that can be pumped. Refer to model specifications for details on appropriate use.
  • A spark arrester is available as an optional part for Honda water pumps. It is illegal in some areas to operate an engine without a spark arrester. Please check and obey local laws and regulations before operating.
  • Moving parts may cause injury, stop the water pump before you proceed with any maintenance or repair.

Keep Yourself Safe

add
  • For safety, never pump flammable or corrosive liquids such as gasoline or acid.
  • Always operate the pump on a level surface. If the engine is tilted, fuel spillage may occur.
  • To prevent fire hazards and provide adequate ventilation, keep the pump at least 1 metre (3 feet) away from building walls and other equipment during operation. Do not place flammable objects near the pump.
  • Know how to stop your water pump quickly and understand the operation of all controls.
  • Be alert. Operating this product when you are tired, ill or under the influence of alcohol or drugs may result in serious injury.
  • Never permit anyone to operate the water pump without proper instructions.
  • Do not smoke or allow flames or sparks in the area where the engine is refuelled or where gasoline is stored.
  • Honda recommends using gasoline without ethanol in your Honda water pump.
  • Refuel in a well-ventilated area with the engine stopped.

Keep Safety Of Others In Mind

add
  • Before operating the water pump, inspect the area in which you are going to operate it. Remove any debris and other obstacles that may cause injury or damage to operators or the water pump.
  • Clear the area of children and pets before use. Their safety is your responsibility.
  • Turn engine off when not in use.
  • If you need to leave the water pump unattended for any reason, always turn the engine off.
  • Never permit anyone to operate the water pump without proper instruction.
  • If the water pump becomes clogged, stop the engine before inspecting it; serious personal injury could result.
  • For your safety and the safety of others, do not operate the water pump during darkness or in poor lighting conditions.

Important Message About Youth/Child Safety

add
  • Water pumps are tools, not toys. As with any equipment, bad judgment can result in serious injuries.
  • Please ensure you are familiar with local laws, and have carefully read and reviewed your owner’s manual, before making any decisions with respect to the operation of your water pump by a minor

Occasional Users

add
  • Before you ask anyone to operate your water pump, you need to determine whether the person is old enough and strong enough to safely handle and properly control the product.
  • If you decide to let someone else use your water pump, make sure the occasional user reads and understands all instructions and warnings in the owner's manual and on the labels before operating the water pump.
  • Allow adequate time for hands-on training, and personally supervise practice sessions until you feel sure the person is ready to operate the machine.
  • Also be sure the person wears proper clothing and have eye protection and any other gear that may be required by local ordinances or your insurance company.
  • Remember that you are responsible for keeping the Honda water pump properly maintained and in safe operating condition for occasional users.
