THIS CONTEST IS OPEN TO CANADIAN RESIDENTS ONLY
AND IS GOVERNED BY CANADIAN LAW

  1. KEY DATES:

    The 2015 Power Event Contest (the “Contest”) begins on April 1, 2015 at 12:00:01 a.m. Eastern Time (“ET”) and ends on June 30, 2015 at 11:59:59 p.m. ET (the “Contest Period”). To be eligible for an Early Bird Prize (defined below), your Entry (defined below) must be submitted and received in accordance with these Official Rules and Regulations (the "Rules") between April 1, 2015 at 12:00:01 a.m. ET and May 30, 2015 at 11:59:59 p.m. ET (the “Early Bird Entry Period”).

  2. ELIGIBILITY:

    Contest is open to residents of Canada who have reached the legal age of majority in their province/territory of residence at the time of entry, except employees, representatives or agents (and those with whom such persons are living, whether related or not) of Honda Canada Inc. (the “Sponsor”), its parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, dealers, prize suppliers, advertising/promotion agencies and any other individual or entity involved in the development, production, administration, or fulfillment of the Contest (collectively, the “Contest Parties”).

  3. HOW TO ENTER:

    NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. Making a purchase will not increase or otherwise impact your odds of winning in this Contest. There are two (2) ways to obtain an Entry (each, an “Entry” and collectively, the “Entries”) in the Contest, as follows:

    Eligible Purchase: During the Contest Period, eligible participants will automatically receive one (1) Entry with the purchase of any new and not previously registered Honda Power Equipment product from an authorized Canadian Honda Power Equipment Dealer in Canada (each, an “Eligible Purchase”).

    No Purchase Necessary: To obtain one (1) Entry in the Contest without making an Eligible Purchase, print your first name, last name, telephone number, complete mailing address (including postal code), age and signature on a plain white piece of paper and mail it (in an envelope with sufficient postage) along with a fifty (50) word or more unique and original sentence (the “Sentence”) on The Benefits of Mulching on the Environment to: 2015 Power Event Contest 180 Honda Blvd. Markham, Ontario L6C 0H9 (the “Request”). Upon receipt of your Request in accordance with these Rules, you will receive one (1) Entry in the Contest. To be eligible, your Request must be received separately in an envelope bearing sufficient postage (i.e. multiple Requests in the same envelope will be void). To be eligible for the Grand Prize (as defined below), your Request must be post-marked during the Contest Period and received by no later than the Draw Date (as defined below). To be eligible for an Early Bird Prize (as defined below), your Request must be post-marked during the Early Bird Entry Period and received by no later than the Early Bird Draw Date (as defined below).

    The Contest Parties and each of their respective officers, directors, employees, agents, representatives, successors and assigns (collectively, the “Released Parties”) take no responsibility whatsoever for any lost, stolen, delayed, illegible, damaged, misdirected, late or destroyed Entries or Requests (all of which are void).

  4. ADDITIONAL ENTRY RULES:

    There is a limit of one (1) Entry per person, regardless of: (i) the method of entry; (ii) how many Requests you send; (iii) how many Eligible Purchases you make; and (iv) how many new and not previously registered Honda Power Equipment products are included in your Eligible Purchase. If it is discovered by the Sponsor (using any evidence or other information made available to or otherwise discovered by the Sponsor) that any person has attempted to: (i) obtain more than one (1) Entry; and/or (ii) use multiple names, identities and/or any automated, macro, script, robotic or other system(s) or program(s) to participate in or to disrupt this Contest; then he/she may be disqualified from the Contest in the sole and absolute discretion of the Sponsor.

  5. VERIFICATION:

    All Entries, Requests and Eligible Purchases are subject to verification at any time and for any reason. The Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to require proof of identity and/or eligibility (in a form acceptable to the Sponsor – including, without limitation, government issued photo identification): (i) for the purposes of verifying an individual’s eligibility to participate in this Contest; (ii) for the purposes of verifying the eligibility and/or legitimacy of any Entry, Request, Eligible Purchase or other information entered (or purportedly entered) for the purposes of this Contest; and/or (iii) for any other reason the Sponsor deems necessary, in its sole and absolute discretion, for the purposes of administering this Contest in accordance with the letter and spirit of these Rules. Failure to provide such proof to the complete satisfaction of the Sponsor within the timeline specified by the Sponsor may result in disqualification in the sole and absolute discretion of the Sponsor. The sole determinant of the time for the purposes of this Contest will be the Sponsor’s Official Clock(s).

  6. THE PRIZES:

    There will be four (4) prizes (each, a “Prize” and collectively, the “Prizes”) available to be won, as follows:

    Early Bird Prizes: There will be three (3) Early Bird Prizes (each, an “Early Bird Prize” and collectively, the “Early Bird Prizes”) available to be won, each consisting of $500 CDN in gift certificates to be used towards Honda Power Equipment at an authorized Canadian Power Equipment Dealer in Canada. Gift certificates are subject to all of the terms and conditions of the issuer.

    Grand Prize: There will be one (1) Grand Prize (the “Grand Prize”) available to be won consisting of: (i) one (1) Honda HRS2165PKC Lawnmower (ARV: $389.00 CDN); (ii) one (1) Honda HHT25SLTC Trimmer (ARV: $389.00 CDN); (iii) one (1) Honda F220C Tiller (ARV: $969.00 CDN); (iv) one (1) Honda EU2000iTC Generator (ARV: $1,399.00 CDN); and (v) one (1) Honda WB20XT3C Water Pump (ARV: $529.00 CDN); collectively with an approximate retail prize value (“ARV”) of $3,675.00 CDN.

    Each Prize must be accepted as awarded and is not transferable, assignable or convertible to cash (except as may be specifically permitted by Sponsor in its sole and absolute discretion). No substitutions except at Sponsor’s option. Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to substitute a Prize or a component thereof with a prize of equal or greater retail value, including, without limitation, but at Sponsor’s sole and absolute discretion, a cash award. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, the following general conditions apply to the Grand Prize: (i) the Grand Prize will include freight and PDI, as well as any other dealer fees and charges related to the products themselves; (ii) colours and other specifics of the Grand Prize components will be at the sole discretion of the Sponsor; (iii) manufacturer’s warranty applies to the Grand Prize; (iv) upon notification, the Grand Prize winner will be required to personally take delivery of the Grand Prize within three (3) months from a Honda Dealer within Canada reasonably close to the Grand Prize winner’s place of residence (as designated by Sponsor, in its sole discretion) and present adequate personal identification in a form acceptable to the Sponsor (otherwise the Grand Prize may, in the sole discretion of the Sponsor, be forfeited in its entirety); and (v) Grand Prize winner is solely responsible for all expenses that are not included in the Grand Prize description above.

    THE ARV OF EACH COMPONENT OF THE GRAND PRIZE NOTED ABOVE IS CURRENT AS OF FEBRUARY 15, 2015. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WHATSOEVER WILL ANY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE ACTUAL RETAIL VALUE OF ANY ELEMENT OF THE GRAND PRIZE AS AT THE TIME OF FULFILLMENT AND THE ARV OF THE APPLICABLE ELEMENT NOTED ABOVE BE AWARDED. FOR THE AVOIDANCE OF ANY DOUBT, THE GRAND PRIZE CONSISTS OF THE ELEMENTS NOTED ABOVE AND NOT THE ACTUAL VALUE OF SUCH ELEMENTS.

    There is a limit of one (1) Early Bird Prize per person. Early Bird Prize winners remain eligible to win the Grand Prize.

  7. EARLY BIRD WINNER SELECTION PROCESS:

    On June 18, 2015 (the “Early Bird Draw Date”) in Markham, Ontario at approximately 4 p.m. ET, three (3) eligible entrants will be selected by random draw from among all eligible Entries submitted and received in accordance with these Rules during the Early Bird Entry Period. The odds of winning an Early Bird Prize depend on the number of eligible Entries submitted in accordance with these Rules during the Early Bird Entry Period.

  8. GRAND PRIZE WINNER SELECTION PROCESS:

    On July 18, 2015 (the “Draw Date”) in Markham, Ontario at approximately 4 p.m. ET, one (1) eligible entrant will be selected by random draw from among all eligible Entries submitted and received in accordance with these Rules during the Contest Period. The odds of winning the Grand Prize depend on the number of eligible Entries submitted in accordance with these Rules during the Contest Period.

  9. WINNER NOTIFICATION PROCESS (APPLICABLE TO ALL PRIZES):

    The Sponsor or its designated representative will make a minimum of five (5) attempts to contact each eligible winner within ten (10) business days of the applicable Draw Date. If an eligible winner cannot be contacted within ten (10) business days of the applicable Draw Date, or if there is a return of any notification as undeliverable; then he/she may, in the sole and absolute discretion of the Sponsor, be disqualified (and, if disqualified, will forfeit all rights to the applicable Prize) and the Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion and time permitting, to randomly select an alternate eligible entrant from among the remaining eligible Entries submitted and received in accordance with the applicable procedures of these Rules to be the eligible winner of the applicable Prize (in which case the foregoing provisions of this section shall apply to such newly selected eligible winner).

  10. WINNER CONFIRMATION PROCESS (APPLICABLE TO ALL PRIZES):

    BEFORE BEING DECLARED A CONFIRMED PRIZE WINNER, each eligible winner will be required to: (a) correctly answer a mathematical skill-testing question without mechanical or other aid (which may, in the sole and absolute discretion of the Sponsor, be administered online, by email or other electronic means, by telephone, or in the Sponsor’s form of declaration and release); and (b) sign and return within twenty-five (25) business days of notification the Sponsor’s declaration and release form, which (among other things): (i) confirms compliance with these Rules; (ii) acknowledges acceptance of the applicable Prize (as awarded); (iii) releases the Released Parties from any and all liability in connection with this Contest, his/her participation therein and/or the awarding and use/misuse of the applicable Prize or any portion thereof; and (iv) agrees to the publication, reproduction and/or other use of his/her name, address, voice, statements about the Contest and/or photograph or other likeness without further notice or compensation, in any publicity or advertisement carried out by or on behalf of the Sponsor in any manner or medium whatsoever, including print, broadcast or the internet. If an eligible winner: (a) fails to correctly answer the skill-testing question; (b) fails to return the properly executed Contest documents within the specified time; (c) cannot accept (or is unwilling to accept) the applicable Prize (as awarded) for any reason; and/or (d) is determined to be in violation of these Rules (all as determined by the Sponsor in its sole and absolute discretion); then he/she will be disqualified (and will forfeit all rights to the applicable Prize) and the Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion and time permitting, to randomly select an alternate eligible entrant from among the remaining eligible Entries submitted and received in accordance with the applicable procedures of these Rules to be the eligible winner of the applicable Prize (in which case the foregoing provisions of this section shall apply to such newly selected eligible winner).

  11. GENERAL CONDITIONS:

    All Entries become the property of the Sponsor. This Contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws. The decisions of the Sponsor with respect to all aspects of this Contest are final and binding on all entrants without right of appeal. ANYONE DEEMED THE SPONSOR TO BE IN VIOLATION OF THE LETTER AND/OR SPIRIT OF THESE RULES FOR ANY REASON IS SUBJECT TO DISQUALIFICATION IN THE SOLE AND ABSOLUTE DISCRETION OF THE SPONSOR AT ANY TIME. The Released Parties will not be liable for the failure of any Entry, Request, Eligible Purchase or other information to be received, captured or recorded for any reason whatsoever. The Release Parties will not be liable for anyone being incorrectly and/or mistakenly identified as a winner or eligible winner.

    The Sponsor reserves the right, subject only to the approval of the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux (the “Régie”) in Quebec, to withdraw, amend or suspend this Contest (or to amend these Rules) in any way, in the event of any cause beyond the reasonable control of the Sponsor that interferes with the proper conduct of this Contest as contemplated by these Rules, including, without limitation, any error(s), problem(s), tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud or failure of any kind whatsoever. Any attempt to undermine the legitimate operation of this Contest in any way (as determined by Sponsor in its sole and absolute discretion) is a violation of criminal and civil laws and should such an attempt be made, the Sponsor reserves the right to seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent permitted by law. The Sponsor, with the consent of the Régie, reserves the right to cancel, amend or suspend this Contest, or to amend these Rules, in any way without prior notice or obligation, in the event of any accident, printing, administrative, or other error of any kind, or for any other reason whatsoever. Without limiting the generality of the forgoing, the Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to administer an alternate test of skill as it deems appropriate based on the circumstances and/or to comply with applicable law.

    For Quebec residents: Any litigation respecting the conduct or organization of a publicity contest may be submitted to the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux for a ruling. Any litigation respecting the awarding of a prize may be submitted to the board only for the purpose of helping the parties reach a settlement.

    By entering this Contest, each entrant expressly consents to the Sponsor, its agents and/or representatives, storing, sharing and using the personal information submitted with his/her Entry only for the purpose of administering the Contest and in accordance with Sponsor’s privacy policy (available at: http://www.honda.ca/privacy). This section does not limit any other consent(s) that an individual may provide the Sponsor or others in relation to the collection, use and/or disclosure of their personal information.

    The Sponsor reserves the right, subject only to the approval of the Régie in Quebec, to adjust any of the dates, timeframes and/or other Contest mechanics stipulated in these Rules, to the extent necessary, for purposes of verifying compliance by any entrant, Entry, Request, Eligible Purchase and/or other information with these Rules, or as a result of any technical or other problems, or in light of any other circumstances which, in the opinion of the Sponsor, in its sole and absolute discretion, affect the proper administration of the Contest as contemplated in these Rules, or for any other reason.

    In the event of any discrepancy or inconsistency between the terms and conditions of these English Rules and disclosures or other statements contained in any Contest-related materials, including, but not limited to, the French version of these Rules, any instructions or interpretations of these Rules given by any representative of the Sponsor, and/or point of sale, television, print or online advertising; the terms and conditions of these English Rules shall prevail, govern and control to the fullest extent permitted by law.

    The invalidity or unenforceability of any provision of these Rules shall not affect the validity or enforceability of any other provision. In the event that any provision is determined to be invalid or otherwise unenforceable or illegal, these Rules shall otherwise remain in effect and shall be construed in accordance with the terms as if the invalid or illegal provision were not contained herein.
